MTDC AND WLC SIGN MOU TO LAUNCH THE DIGITAL ECONOMY PLATFORM
January 28, 2020
The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and the World Logistics Council (WLC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the deployment of MDDEAS®, the Multi-Dimensional Digital Economy Application System.
The agreement aims to connect Malaysian businesses with global trade partners through a Digital Economy Platform powered by advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, and Blockchain. The platform is designed to improve trade efficiency, reduce costs, and expand access to finance and insurance services.
The MOU was signed by MTDC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Norhalim Yunus and WLC Chairman Captain Samuel Salloum, and witnessed by MTDC Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat.
The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and supports key growth sectors by helping local businesses, particularly SMEs, access international markets through an integrated digital ecosystem.
MDDEAS® provides thousands of digital applications that enable businesses to connect commerce, logistics, finance, and insurance activities across global value chains. The platform also incorporates a governance framework designed to address data privacy, geopolitical, and competition concerns while supporting trusted international trade.
Through this collaboration, MTDC and WLC aim to accelerate the digitalization of Malaysia and its trade partners, creating new opportunities for business growth, trade expansion, and participation in the global digital economy.
