Indonesia Embraces GCEL’s Digital Economy Platform

INDONESIA EMBRACES GCEL’S DIGITAL ECONOMY PLATFORM

December 18, 2019

Indonesia’s Vice President, H.E. Jusuf Kalla, welcomed the collaboration between GCEL, the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), and leading Indonesian companies to accelerate deployment of the Digital Economy Platform.

The initiative followed the signing of strategic agreements involving KADIN, Bukalapak, one of Indonesia’s leading e-commerce companies, and Kresna Finance and Insurance, supporting the digital transformation of Indonesia and its trade partners.

Indonesia has been an early participant in GCEL’s Digital Economy initiative through the Indonesia Shipment Efficiency Assessment, conducted with government ministries, industry organizations, academic institutions, and KADIN to identify opportunities for improving trade performance and competitiveness.

The assessment indicated that digital transformation could significantly reduce trade costs, increase trade activity, expand digital services, and support large-scale job creation while strengthening opportunities for SMEs.

The initiative supports Indonesia’s economic development objectives through the Asia Benchmark Trade Lane Program and aligns with broader Digital Economy goals endorsed by G20 leaders.

Powered by advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, and Blockchain, the Digital Economy Platform provides businesses with integrated digital tools that improve efficiency, reduce business risk, lower costs, and expand access to e-commerce, finance, and insurance services across global markets.
