THE DIGITAL ECONOMY RECOGNIZED AS A KEY POLICY RECOMMENDATION AT THE 2015 B20 TURKEY SUMMIT
December 14, 2015
At the 2015 B20 Summit in Antalya, the Digital Economy was recognized as a key policy recommendation to support G20 efforts aimed at achieving strong, sustainable, and balanced economic growth through structural reform.
Through its participation in five B20 Task Forces—Trade, Infrastructure & Investment, Financing Growth, Employment, and SMEs & Entrepreneurship—GCEL contributed policy recommendations through research, analysis, and active engagement.
Among the recommendations presented to G20 Leaders was the development of a comprehensive digital environment for customs procedures and cross-border automated clearance systems, implemented through public-private collaboration across G20 economies.
The summit also emphasized the importance of increasing youth employment, expanding female labor-force participation, and improving transparency around SME creditworthiness to enhance access to financing and reduce lending risks.
These recommendations closely aligned with GCEL’s Digital Economy initiative, which promotes the digitization of global trade to improve efficiency, reduce costs, expand access to finance, increase international trade, and support large-scale job creation across manufacturing, agriculture, and service sectors worldwide.
