GCEL MEETS WITH ICD TO ADVANCE DIGITAL ECONOMY DEPLOYMENT ACROSS OIC MEMBER STATES

On November 4, 2019, Mr. Ayman Amin Sejiny, Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), met with a GCEL delegation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to discuss how new digital tools can enhance trade across OIC member states and their global trade partners.
The GCEL delegation was led by Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).
ICD is an independent institution within the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, dedicated to promoting private-sector development as a driver of economic growth and sustainable development across member countries.
GCEL presented the benefits of its Digital Economy Platform initiative for OIC economies, including the potential to reduce annual domestic and international trade costs by USD 976 billion, increase goods trade by USD 596 billion, generate USD 2.4 trillion in new digital services, and create approximately 70 million jobs.
