CANADA’S PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS LAUNCH SHIPMENT EFFICIENCY ASSESSMENT TO STRENGTHEN GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS
March 24, 2016
On March 24, 2016, the Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL) and the Business Council of Canada formally launched the Canada Shipment and Trade Efficiency Assessment (SEA) at the Council’s headquarters in Ottawa.
The Business Council of Canada represents chief executives of major Canadian corporations that collectively manage approximately CAD 4.5 trillion in assets and employ more than 1.4 million people.
Participants in the assessment included representatives from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the C.D. Howe Institute, the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB), the International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA), the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters (I.E. Canada), and the Supply Chain Management Association.
The initiative was launched as Canada continued efforts to strengthen economic growth, diversify exports, and expand trade relationships with rapidly growing international markets.
With one of the world’s highest levels of internet connectivity, Canada is well positioned to benefit from the digitalization of supply chains, improving trade efficiency, increasing export opportunities, and supporting long-term job creation and competitiveness.
