ACCI AND GCEL SIGN MOU TO ADVANCE THE DIGITAL ECONOMY THROUGH THE HUMAWEALTH PROGRAM

August 04, 2014

On August 4, 2014, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and GCEL signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Australia’s Parliament House, reinforcing Australia’s commitment to advancing the Digital Economy through GCEL’s HumaWealth Program.

The agreement was signed by ACCI CEO Kate Carnell and GCEL Co-Chairman Captain Samuel Salloum, with Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, former ASEAN Secretary-General and Chairman of the Asia Logistics Council Advisory Board, among the officials witnessing the event.

The MOU followed the launch of the Australia Trade Efficiency Assessment, a joint initiative involving government and private-sector experts to evaluate Australia’s trade practices and identify digital solutions that can reduce trade costs, increase trade, and support job creation.

The assessment was also designed to support broader regional economic initiatives, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Through the agreement, ACCI joined GCEL’s global public-private sector initiative aimed at improving international trade efficiency and stimulating economic growth. A key component of the HumaWealth Program is the deployment of integrated Digital Economy services, including e-Commerce, e-Finance, e-Insurance, e-Logistics, and e-Grants, to create a more efficient and connected global trading environment.
