GCEL Meets with Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (“ICD”) Towards Digitizing the OIC and Its Trade Partners

Mr. Ayman Amin Sejiny, Chief Executive Officer of ICD, met with a GCEL delegation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 4, 2019 to discuss how the use of new digital tools in the B2B marketplace can grow OIC trade within the region and with its trade partners globally. The GCEL delegation was led by Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).

The ICD is an independent entity within the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) whose mission is to complement IDB through the development and promotion of the private sector as a vehicle for economic growth and development in member countries.

GCEL presented the benefits of its Digital Economy Platform initiative for the OIC including the  reduction of annual domestic and international trade costs by USD 976 billion, increased goods trade of USD 596 billion, greater digital services of USD 2.4 trillion and the creation of 70 million jobs.
